Adults Striking

Boxing, Kickboxing, MMA

The American Top Team striking program pulls from the best of Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and Karate. Students can expect to learn both offensive and defensive maneuvers essential to succeeding in competition or self defense. Our program serves beginners seeking to learn basic skills to more advanced students seeking to compete on the amateur or professional level.

The ATT striking program is overseen by Steve “The Creepy Weasel” Montgomery, former professional fighter and UFC veteran.

American Top Team Students compete both at amateur promotions and high level professional stages. Notably, Shonte “Shyne” Barnes competed at Dana White’s Contender Series in 2021 and Odie “The Witness” Delaney signed with ONE Championship in 2021 and boasts a perfect record.

The ATT Asheville Striking program pulls from the best of Kickboxing, Boxing, Muay Thai, and Karate for a holistic and effective approach to competitive striking and/or self defense.

The Path: Striking

The Striking program is broken up into 3 distinct levels: Fundamentals, Intermediate/Advanced, Competition Team.

All students start off in the Fundamentals program (both for boxing/kickboxing) where they learn stance, footwork, all the basic strikes, and defenses. Most students stay in Fundamentals for at least a month, but it takes more/less time depending on the student, their experience, time on the mats, and ability to pick up new concepts quickly. Once a student demonstrates competence in these techniques, they are moved up to Intermediate/Advanced.

In the Intermediate/Advanced level, students are introduced to more complex techniques, sparring drills, and light sparring. At this level, students may also qualify to take the MMA class.

If a student demonstrates competency at the advanced level and wishes to compete, they may be approved to join the competition team at the head instructor’s discretion.
